But, I'm back...hopefully.
I've neglected my blog for various reasons, but I think my most valid reason is the life-changing decision I made last fall.
My best friend, Natalie, and I quit our jobs in Kansas City, packed up with our furry companions and made the move to Chicago. November 1, 2012 was the day that triggered my new life and appreciation for adventure.
Of course I couldn't remain unemployed for very long, as I only saved up enough money to make the move with nothing extra to live off of. I was lucky to land myself back in the work force doing what I do well: Marketing.
Before starting my job, Natalie and I coined ourselves Residential Tourists and took advantage of our down time to explore this city we hardly knew and begin to nurture this new-found love affair with Chicago.
I had been itching for so long to go do something new with my life. I love and miss my family and friends back in Kansas, but I knew I would forever kick myself if I didn't go somewhere and if I didn't go soon. I was beyond blessed that I also had a partner in crime to kick-start this new chapter with me.
As I lay here typing this on a very cold and snowy Saturday morning this first weekend of February, I am happy. I've got my best furry friend by my side and my best gal pal in the other room. I knew moving up here right before winter would be brutal, but what waits for us at the end of this season I know is going to be beautiful and exciting. I've fallen in love with this city at a time most people would curl up and hibernate through, but I've been thriving and can only imagine what the next seasons hold for me.
I'm a giddy young girl who's found the heart-fluttering, can't-get-enough-of type of love. You may think it's an un-reciprocated love, but I know Chicago loves me too. It shows me every day. One day I'll make room in my life for a man to share adventures with, but I see nothing wrong with being selfish with my time alone with this City for a while.
My main New Year's resolution was to simply have more PATIENCE. I can't change how fast or slow time moves, so I'm doing what I can to enjoy each moment for what it is.
I pledge to not go so long between posts, especially since I have so much more to share with you all about my life happenings. Stay tuned, folks.
P.S. Did you know there's a huge KU following in Chicago? Thank God.
